Hospital Indemnity explained (Not for AZ or NY)
Video transcript
The United Healthcare logo – a stylized, navy-blue letter U that splits into three stripes on the right-hand side – appears in the center of a white background. The stripes form a ribbon that undulates across the background and disappears, leaving navy blue words in its wake:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Hospital Indemnity Protection Plan
NARRATOR: How does the hospital indemnity Protection Plan supplement your health benefits? Let's take a look.
A blue background wipes across, replacing the white. Three logos appear from left to right in white circles: a stylized H, like a sign indicating a hospital nearby; a hospital building with a white cross on its sign; and a bottle of medicine.
NARRATOR: Say you go to the hospital and the stay is longer than expected. Maybe it includes time spent in the ICU or confinement after giving birth. Covered hospital stays and the related expenses can really add up.
One by one, each of the dots turns into a shining gold coin.
NARRATOR: That's where your Hospital Indemnity Protection Plan, or HIPP comes in, ready to help.
The coins fall away, taking the blue background with them and revealing words on white once more:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Hospital Indemnity Protection Plan
The first letters of every word remain and condense together as the other letters fade away, leaving an abbreviation:
ONSCREEN TEXT: HIPP
NARRATOR: After your hospital stay your HIPP pays out a lump sum cash benefit directly to you. And that money can be used toward anything: medical bills, home expenses, childcare, your next vacation, it's yours to use however you choose.
The abbreviation disappears, and an illustration of a wallet rises from the bottom of the view. A coin falls into it, then pops back out, spinning and landing back in the wallet with three turquoise marks hovering over it. A turquoise background wipes across the view, and an illustration of a white house with a blue roof and fence and orange bushes in the yard appears in the center. An orange heart appears in the center of the house before the illustration slides away, replaced by three pieces of luggage.
NARRATOR: For members enrolled in the United Healthcare medical plan, we've made the claims process faster and easier with our benefit assist program.
A white background replaces the turquoise, and a series of colorful hands appear: three with their palms raised, followed by a fourth that gives a thumbs-up. The hands disappear, and navy-blue text appears:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Benefit Assist Program
NARRATOR: Here's how that works.
A blue background replaces the white, and the blue text turns to white:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Here’s how that works
NARRATOR: A benefit assistant proactively looks for supplemental health claims processed by United Healthcare that qualify for a benefit payout and when they find one, they contact you directly and help you submit the claim quickly and accurately.
An animation of a woman in a headset appears in a white dot, speaking into a microphone. The dot hovers as she speaks, and white text appears to the right:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Benefit payout
The text is replaced by a blue-haired man in a hovering orange dot, who speaks with the blonde woman. The dots ascend out of the view and are replaced by a yellow hand holding a smartphone.
NARRATOR: For those who don't have United Healthcare Medical, you can easily call in to initiate your HIPP claim.
An orange checkmark appears on the phone screen, and a white background wipes across the view.
NARRATOR: So, to recap: hospital, claim, payout, and that's it.
Blue text appears, one word at a time:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Hospital, claim, payout
The phrase disappears, followed by:
ONSCREEN TEXT: That’s it
NARRATOR: Now you know how having a Hospital Indemnity Protection Plan can supplement your health benefits. Pretty handy.
The words onscreen change and appear as the narrator speaks them:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Hospital Indemnity
Protection Plan
The three stripes that comprise the United Healthcare logo wind across the view until they form the stylized U. Small blue print appears beneath it:

Benefit Assist (Not for NY)
Video transcript
In the center of a white background, the UnitedHealthcare logo appears: a stylized blue letter U, with the right arm of the U split into three stripes. The U transforms into a ribbon that winds across the view. Next, three blue circles replace the text. From left to right, each circle contains a bright blue and white icon: a stethoscope, a hospital bed, and a pair of crutches. Blue text replaces the three circles.
ONSCREEN TEXT: Benefit Assist.
SPEAKER: When a diagnosis, hospital stay or accident occurs. It's good to know you've got UnitedHealthcare benefit assist on your side. Benefit Assist is a program designed to help both simplify your claims process and get you the benefits you're eligible for.
New blue text appears beside bullet points.
ONSCREENTEXT: - Simplify your claims process
- Get your eligible benefits.
Now in the center of the white background, a pair of yellow cartoon hands in dark blue shirtsleeves form a heart. Now a dark blue background wipes across the view. White text appears:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Health plan + Supplemental plan = Benefit Assist.
Beneath "Supplemental plan," the three icons of hospital equipment appear, stacked vertically.
They push the text toward the top of the view, and then transform into one yellow dot with a bright blue checkmark inside.
SPEAKER: So you can focus on what's most important, getting well, you're eligible for benefit assist. If you're enrolled in a health plan and have a UnitedHealthcare supplemental plan like Accident, Critical Illness, or Hospital Indemnity, and it's included at no additional cost.
The view splits into a dark blue half on the left, and a white half on the right. On the left half, a bright blue folder appears with papers emerging from it. The folder opens, revealing papers that read "Claim" at the top. In the white side of the view, a blue wallet appears with a yellow coin that bounces inside it. Now against a blue background, a computer monitor appears on a desk beside a yellow mug. Claims scroll on the computer screen. A yellow dot appears on the screen with a bright blue checkmark inside. Now a yellow hand holds up a smartphone with an icon of a person's face in the center, as if on a video call.
SPEAKER: So how does Benefit Assist work? Through two proactive measures:
one involving the claims process, the other automatic payouts. Benefit assist keeps an eye out for medical claims that qualify you for a potential supplemental benefit payout. When one is found, a benefit assistant reaches out to you to help submit the claim. So you can get your benefit payout quickly.
Next, on a white background, two blue dots appear. A lotus flower appears in the center of the left dot, and a hospital bed in the right. The two blue dots rotate and transform into yellow dots with bright blue checkmarks in the center. They rotate once more, turning into coins that drop into an envelope. The envelope slides into a mailbox, and the mailbox turns into a rippling blue roadway with an orange arrow down the center.
SPEAKER: In some cases, such as those for wellness and hospital indemnity sickness, benefit assist automatically identifies the eligible medical event and mails out a check directly to you here. There's no need to file a claim or even wait for someone to contact you because the process is already underway with benefit assist in your corner.
Another yellow dot with a bright blue checkmark appears in the center of the white background, followed by dark blue text that pops on word by word.
ONSCREEN TEXT: helping you get your benefits when they're needed most.
SPEAKER: The claims process is simplified, helping you get your benefits when they're needed most.
The striped blue ribbon winds back onto the view and forms the UnitedHealthcare logo once more. Blue text fades in, replacing the logo.
ONSCREEN TEXT: United

Black fine print fades in:

Short Term Disability (Not for NY)
Video transcript
On a white background, the blue UnitedHealthcare logo appears—the letter U, with its right arm split into three stripes. It ripples across the background like a ribbon and disappears to the right, leaving blue text in the center in its wake. Cheerful mandolin music with hand-clapping plays.
ONSCREEN TEXT: Short-term Disability
NARRATOR: A short-term disability plan is like protection for your paycheck. It’s designed to help replace part of your income in the event a qualifying injury, illness, or health event temporarily prevents you from working.
The text fades, and a cartoon of an orange hand in a bright blue shirtsleeve reaches out from the left. A golden coin drops into the outstretched palm of the figure’s hand. The hand disappears, replaced by a blue IV bag marked with a white cross. The IV bag rolls to the left, and a split view in the center shows a white head against a deep blue background. Inside the head, a blue cloud appears. A tear falls from the white figure’s eye, and a sun peeks out from the cloud inside their head. In the third split view on the right, a woman holds her pregnant belly.
NARRATOR: With short-term disability, you’ll be paid a percentage of your paycheck each week. This way, you’ll still have income as you take time off work to recuperate until you’re able to work again, or until you reach the end of your benefit period—whichever comes first.
Now against a white background, a plant and a mug of tea slide onto a shelf. A calendar appears above the shelf, and blue text fades in to the left:
ONSCREEN TEXT: You’re paid each week
Three orange checkmarks appear in three separate squares on the calendar. The view zooms in, transforming one of the calendar squares into a view through a windowpane. Inside, a figure sits with their leg in a cast up on a footstool. The white cast transforms into a white running shoe, and the figure hits the ground running. Blue streaks behind the shoe indicate their speed. Blue fine print appears at the bottom of the teal background:
ONSCREEN TEXT: The benefit period for your plan is determined by your employer. Please
see your Certificate of Coverage for plan details, including your plan’s benefit period.
NARRATOR: Short-term disability is built with an easier claims process in mind. Online, you can manage claims, set up direct deposit, and check your correspondence and payment history 24/7. You can also connect by phone or mail.
Now a blue computer monitor slides in from the right. A message slides up onto the screen with white dollar signs and blue lines. Dollar bills fly into the computer screen and transform into orange dots with blue checkmarks inside. A white envelope notification appears on the screen with a blue number 1 in an orange dot. The envelope vanishes, and three checkmarks in orange dots take its place in the center of the screen.
Two speech bubbles—one blue and one white—appear on the teal background. Three white lines pop up in the blue bubble, and a yellow plus sign in the white bubble. Blue fine print appears at the bottom:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Telephonic access not available with all plans.
NARRATOR: Once you submit your claim, you may have to wait a short period of time—also known as the “elimination period”—before you’re eligible to receive your weekly payments. These payments go directly to you and can be used however you want: to put toward your mortgage or rent, medical bills, childcare, or anything else you may need.
A hand inserts a white envelope into a blue mailbox. On a white background, a bird with deep blue feathers sits next to a list with round bullet points:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Submit your claim Wait a short period of time Receive your payments
A yellow triangle with an orange exclamation mark pops up over the bird’s head as it tweets. The bird turns its head and blinks, then takes to the air. It soars over a small blue house with a yellow door. Blue text fades in on the left of the house:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Payments go directly to you
The view splits in half, with the house on the right and a folder of documents on the left. A white cross marks the folder and a paperclip secures a photo of a person to the front. The view splits into thirds, and a teddy bear slides onto a shelf on the far left-hand side.
NARRATOR: Also good to know: you may be able to work part-time and still receive short-term disability payments.
A clock appears in a teal square on a blue background, with white text to its left:
ONSCREEN TEXT: You may be able to work part-time
An ID card slides down behind the clock, as if swiping in for a shift at work.
NARRATOR: When you’re ready to get back to work full-time, short-term disability is ready to help set up you up for success by connecting you with a Disability Specialist, who’s trained to help you return to work. If you’re no longer able to perform your essential duties and can’t return to work, a specialist can assist you in finding another job by helping you update your résumé, build skills, prepare for interviews, and more.
Now a blue briefcase appears beside a yellow thermos and an apple. Two speech bubbles pop up with talking heads inside. One of the figures wears a headset, and nods while speaking. A view from above shows a computer on a desk, where a figure moves a wireless mouse with their hand. A clipboard on the desk enlarges into the center of the view, and fills with three blue squares. Checkmarks pop up in the squares as the clipboard slides to the left, and a list with round bullet points pops up on the right:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Update résumé Build skills Prepare for interviews
On a white background, a figure’s hand holds up an orange heart on their index finger.
NARRATOR: Short-term disability. Here to help you feel a sense of financial support as you take time to care for your health.
The heart gently sways back and forth. Blue text pops up in the center word-by-word:
ONSCREEN TEXT: take time to care for your health
New blue text appears:
ONSCREEN TEXT: Learn more at whyuhc.com/financialprotection
The text fades away, and a striped blue ribbon winds its way into the center, forming the UnitedHealthcare logo. It fades into blue text:
ONSCREEN TEXT: United Healthcare

The blue text fades away, and black fine print appears at the bottom of the view:
